1. Napa & Sonoma Valley
Napa and Sonoma Valley is an idyllic landscape. Rows of meticulously-tended vines cover hilly hills, where sun-kissed grapes shine bright with perfumed leaves and juicy grapes ripen under bright skies. A wine tasting tour here allows visitors to fully appreciate this breathtaking panorama while sampling some of Napa and Sonoma Valley’s most famous wines.
Napa Valley wine tours give visitors a fascinating look behind-the-scenes into the meticulous process of grape cultivation and winemaking. On these tours, visitors are taken through barrel rooms and fermentation tanks so that they may witness first-hand all the passion, dedication, and craftsmanship involved in producing each bottle of wine.
Some of the premier Napa Valley wine-tasting tours feature multi-course meals paired with wines that perfectly compliment each course, creating an exquisite culinary symphony to tantalize your senses and keep you coming back for more.
Napa and Sonoma are two of the world’s premier wine regions, each offering their own distinct personality. You have several tour options for exploring them both – luxury Napa Valley wine tours that visit popular restaurants or more affordable Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley tours with stops at three to four boutique wineries as well as gourmet lunch included – both offering unforgettable experiences! Additionally, learning about historic landmarks like General Vallejo’s Soldier Barracks or Jack London’s final home in Glen Ellen can add another layer of enjoyment!
For the ultimate Napa experience, consider booking a private wine tasting tour. These personalized outings provide couples or groups of friends looking for more exclusive wine-tasting adventures an opportunity to visit multiple wineries while dining on gourmet cuisine with matching bottles of wine at restaurants as well as having an outdoor picnic under the stars!

2. Yountville
Yountville is a wine lover’s paradise, boasting picturesque vineyards and world-class wineries offering luxurious tasting experiences. Situated in Napa Valley, Yountville offers unrivalled wines from legendary wineries such as Domaine Carneros for tasting experiences of one hour led by knowledgeable professionals.
Yountville boasts not only world-class wineries but also some of the finest restaurants worldwide including The French Laundry. Here you can experience cuisines from around the globe in addition to engaging in passeggiata – or leisurely stroll – through its charming streets.
George C. Yount is credited as having established Yountville in the early 1800s after receiving an 11,887-acre land grant from Mexico to plant vineyards and establish Yountville as an early wine destination in Napa Valley. Since then, Yountville has become an extremely sought-after wine destination, boasting lush vineyards and luxurious wines; today, over a dozen tasting rooms and wineries exist within its boundaries.
On your Napa Valley Tour, you can experience various tasting experiences from these wineries, from higher end exclusive Napa Wineries to smaller family owned boutique estates. Goosecross Cellars provides beautiful views of Yountville Hills and Mayacamas Mountain Range while sampling meticulously crafted wines; or at Bell Wine Cellars enjoy their Grape to Glass Tour and Tasting that offers guided tours through their winery and vineyard, followed by tastings of their carefully curated wines.
There are also tasting rooms dedicated exclusively to wines from the Carneros wine region, located south of Yountville and known for producing exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay due to its cool climate. At some of Yountville’s best wineries offering Carneros wine tasting experiences, you can experience this region’s savory, earthy and mineral-driven wines as part of their tasting experiences.
Add something extra special to your Napa Valley tour by booking a hot air balloon ride over Yountville. These tours provide unique views of Napa Valley from above; book early as seats may fill quickly!
3. Santorini
Santorini boasts over 3,000 years of winemaking history, stretching back more than three millennia. The island’s volcanic soil provides ideal growing conditions for grapevines – local wineries showcase this terroir in their wines. You can visit various wineries on your own, but taking a tour provides a more seamless way of experiencing local vino. Please book early as tours sell out quickly during the peak season (April to October)!
SantoWines, the largest wine cooperative on the island, provides daily tours and tastings at different vineyards – perfect if you want to sample wines from multiple producers but lack the time or energy to plan a journey yourself!
This tour features wineries that are well-recognized in Greece and have been recognized in respected publications like Wine Spectator and Robert Parker’s International Wine Cellar. You will sample 12 different wines while learning about Greece’s special wine-making process and enjoying local cheese and snack platters to go along with your wine tastings.
Book this tour well in advance to secure a seat on the bus, as this small-group tour features visits to three wineries — including Santorini’s brand new winery Vassaltis which opened just last May by Yannis Valambous – making this visit highly recommended if you enjoy modern Greek architecture and wine alike!
Visit Argyros Winery and taste their signature white wines as well as Vinsanto dessert wine made from late harvest sun-dried grapes. Your guide, Vaios Panagiotopoulos is one of Santorini’s premier wine experts; so expect plenty of interesting facts while tasting delicious vino!
Add wine tasting and other activities into your itinerary by including the Fira to Oia walking tour in your itinerary. It follows a 6-mile path, providing stunning views of Santorini’s cliffs and caldera as you traverse this tour route. Be sure to see Ammoudi Bay with its iconic cliff-top pools as well as Akrotiri prehistoric ruins en route!
4. Porto
Portugal’s northern port city has been honored as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1999, and it’s easy to understand why: painted azulejo tiles decorate buildings and houses, while winding cobbled streets wind past baroque cathedrals and medieval city walls. Vila Nova Gaia boasts the Riverfront Ribeira Quarter as well as tourable port-wine lodges across the Douro River in Vila Nova Gaia – its two primary draws.
Lodges perch high atop dramatic cliffs overlooking the river and offer stunning views. May to September is considered peak season when temperatures remain warm but not unbearably so; winter brings more moderate conditions although rain showers are possible at times.
Wine tasting tours provide the ideal opportunity to discover all that Portugal has to offer, combining visits to top port-wine cellars with food and cultural highlights. A full-day tour that features a cruise along the Douro River provides the ideal way to experience all this region has to offer in one trip.
For visitors with limited time, a two or three day visit should allow enough time to explore the historic center and taste port at local wine cellars, while also giving enough time to visit other wine regions such as Douro Valley or Vinho Verde vineyards in Minho.
Many of the port wine tasting tours offered in Porto are operated by similar companies and provide similar experiences, so it’s wise to shop around. Caves Sandeman is one such company, boasting its famous “masked man” logo on an 1811 granite building overlooking both the river and old city – providing tastings of both tawny and ruby port wines as well as brandy and Madeira wines.
Quevedo, run by two Portuguese brothers, is another promising port house with modern yet traditional influences that offers something for every palate. Housed within an historic cellar space, its take on port is both innovative and timeless – an excellent combination of old world craftsmanship with innovative techniques.
Aliados is an ideal option if you prefer being close to the river; it is less tourist-centric than Ribeira district, while still boasting many dining choices and convenient services. Keep in mind though, that this neighborhood can book up quickly as places tend to get booked months in advance.
